This review examines a cluster of independently published theories that connect consciousness with constraint, closure, admissibility, integration, persistence, temporal extension, identity maintenance, and subject individuation. It treats them as a convergent cluster or proto-school, distinguishes four theoretical families, and considers generative AI as part of their method and historical setting.
